Mixed Tax Manager

McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a Top Regional Accountancy Firm who are looking for a Mixed Tax Manager (compliance & advisory) to join their growing team in Droitwich.  Reporting to the Tax Partner, the role would ideally suit a CTA or ATT Qualified Tax professional, QBE or a Qualified Accountant from another Top or Regional Accounting firm.  You will be working as part of the Senior team, managing junior Tax staff and you must be able to demonstrate strong Tax Advisory & Compliance skills, and manage your own portfolio.  Key duties include:

  • Working with the tax partner and director in delivering high quality tax advice on a broad range of taxes and projects
  • Preparing scoping documents and fee quotes for tax consulting assignments
  • Undertaking research and drafting of tax advice for your own assignments
  • Managing work undertaken by junior tax team members (deadlines, review of advice drafted for final sign off by tax partner/director)
  • Liaising with client and internal project stakeholders
  • Assisting other teams within the firm by dealing with ad-hoc tax queries
  • Building and maintaining relationships with existing clients of the firm (both personal and corporate tax clients)
  • Assisting with tax business development and marketing initiatives across the firm
  • Managing WIP, billing and debtors in respect of your Tax team
  • Taxes covered include: Personal taxes (inc PAYE & NIC), Corporation tax, Capital Gains tax, Inheritance tax, VAT, Stamp taxes and International tax
  • Sample projects you may be involved with include company reorganisations (share-for-share exchanges, demergers), Corporate transactions (disposals, acquisitions), CGT advice (property, shares), IHT advice & reviews, VAT advice, employee share schemes and HMRC enquiries

As it is a mixed tax position you should have demonstrable experience of providing high quality advice on personal and corporate tax projects, ideally with a background in advising OMB’s and/or their families and owners.  Experience of dealing with high net worth individuals, entrepreneurial business owners, estates/trusts and non-residents would be advantageous, and you are likely to be working currently as an experienced manager/senior manager in a mid-tier or larger independent accounting firm.  A willingness to be involved in business development activities and marketing would be also be advantageous
