Personal Tax Senior Manager

McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a Top Accountancy Practice who are looking to recruit a Personal Tax Senior Manager to join their growing team in the Bracknell/Reading area.  Reporting to one of the Tax Partners, the role would ideally suit a CTA/ATT Qualified or ACA/ACCA Qualified tax specialist from a Top100 Accountancy Practice or a specialist Tax Boutique.  You will be coaching junior members of the team, reviewing personal tax computations and you should be able to demonstrate both strong compliance & advisory expertise.  Key duties include:

  • Reviewing multiple personal tax returns within agreed service levels and quality standards, identifying additional tax planning opportunities
  • Alongside the Tax Partners, leading work on complex personal tax advisory projects and dealing directly with clients
  • Generating new leads and winning new personal tax clients
  • Managing your own portfolio of 100+ self-employed, HNWI’s, Entrepreneurial and family/business-related personal tax clients
  • Dealing with complex tax queries on behalf of clients, and reviewing client meeting notes for the Partner
  • Reviewing work carried out by team members to ensure Personal Tax work is completed within specified timeframes and budget
  • Completing appraisals for all Tax staff to enhance their effectiveness
  • Assisting with tax efficient family structures and with IHT/Estates re-balancing for tax planning purposes that are HMRC-compliant
  • Liaising directly with clients and HMRC regarding complex tax matters on the phone and in person, and others in the internal tax and audit teams
  • Identifying changes in UK Tax legislation and how this may impact the portfolio
  • Ensuring the quality of Personal Tax work done is to agreed cost and timescales

To be considered for the Personal Tax Senior Manager role, you should have in-depth knowledge & experience of reviewing complex personal tax computations, dealing with some tax advisory issues and managing a diverse UK client portfolio. You should be experienced in staff management, coaching/training, dealing with family & estate tax issues and HMRC queries.  With excellent team working skills and relationship building skills, you should be able to help develop new and existing Personal Tax business, work well under pressure yet still deliver on time and budget.
