Management Accountant

McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with one of the UK’s leading architecture firms who are looking to recruit a Management Accountant for their Head Office based near Bracknell.  With increased growth and expansion into international markets, this is a fantastic opportunity to join at an exciting time, with support and training available from their external accountants.  They are looking for an individual who is pro-active and passionate about developing and future-proofing the finance function, as well as developing their own skills as the company expands further.  Key duties include:

  • Management of the internal finance function including day-to-day bookkeeping & accounting work
  • Responsible for sales invoicing, debtor management, cash management and payment runs
  • Preparation of management accounts, including analysis work and discussion with the Directors
  • Preparation and management of budgets, including fee projection forecasts
  • Preparation of the VAT return and dealing with VAT queries
  • Dealing with accounting queries and ad-hoc finance projects
  • Working with the HR team to provide payroll workings to the external accountants
  • Liaising and building relationships with key stakeholders including customers, suppliers, heads of departments, HR, Directors and external accountants
  • Supporting Directors by preparing financial information required for business meetings and attending meetings as required
  • Supporting Directors with negotiating contracts and identifying areas for cost reduction and investment
  • Developing the company’s financial strategy including short-term and long-term objectives
  • Responsible for meeting all finance-related deadlines, including payments and compliance returns

To be considered for the Management Accountant role you should be a Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA Accountant with 3+ years practical experience as an all-round Accountant in an Industry or Practice role (the client will happily consider those seeking their first commercial finance role out of an Accountancy Practice). With strong inter-personal skills and experience of speaking with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders in physical meetings and on the phone, you should have a pro-active approach to continual improvement, be highly organised with great attention to detail.
